The Challenge

The client's payment platform was built quickly to reach market, and it worked — until volume grew. Transaction failures spiked during peak hours, reconciliation was manual and error-prone, and the single-database design could not keep up. Compliance requirements were also tightening as the business expanded into new markets.

Our Approach

We started with a two-week discovery to map the transaction lifecycle and identify failure points. Rather than a risky big-bang rewrite, we introduced an incremental migration:

  • Decoupled payment processing into an asynchronous, queue-based pipeline
  • Added idempotency and automatic retries to eliminate duplicate and dropped payments
  • Introduced read replicas and caching to remove database bottlenecks
  • Built end-to-end tracing and real-time alerting for every transaction
  • Hardened the platform to meet PCI-DSS and audit requirements

The Results

Within four months the platform comfortably processed over a million transactions a month at 99.99% uptime. Failed transactions dropped by 92%, throughput tripled, and automated reconciliation freed the operations team from hours of daily manual work. Most importantly, the client could enter new markets with confidence that the platform would hold.

"TTNC Global turned our biggest liability into a competitive advantage. Payments just work now — even on our busiest days."

Technologies Used

Node.js, PostgreSQL with read replicas, Redis, a managed message queue, containerized services on a managed cloud platform, and a full observability stack for tracing and alerting.
